See the First Three Minutes of House's Wilson-Centric Ep (on E! Online).
Also, I forgot to mention that the link in my previous entry goes to an interview where RSL talks about this future Wilson-centric episode . ~_~

Robert Sean Leonard on 'House', movies and his happy lack of ambition
Leonard is quick to remind fans that, beneath the surface, Wilson isn't just your run-of-the-mill nice guy. "I don't know that I'd hang out with House myself, but Wilson's a really strange man. People seem to overlook this a lot. He has three ex-wives, he lives alone, he's best friends with House, he deals with death everyday, he has a schizophrenic homeless brother. … God only knows what his parents are like! I think he's a very strange, dark guy." Notice he doesn't say "He's a manipulative, insensitive bastard that only exists to abuse poor House". Of course, certain people is going to read just that on his 'Wilson isn't your (average) nice guy'. poor, poor Wilson-bashersThis entry is also posted at DW.

Those in my f-list/r-circle interested in the AO3 most probably already got an account, so I'll apologize to the ones who had to follow the queue-route when I could have shared the one invite code I received. Of course, that means that I still have it, so if you're looking for one, just ask! :)
Also, I have had my own AO3 account for almost a year now (my anniversary is on November 26 :D), so I might be able to answer those questions that dealing with a new site brings up. Of course, some options are so new that I haven't had a chance to use all of them, but I can very probably tell you if something is a known bug, if it is being fixed as we talk, if what you suggest has been discussed already (and what the decision was), which options are live and which ones are to come, etc.
I only have 19 of my works up (two of them new, the others among my oldest ones, from 2005), and most I still have to proofread, but that's because I'm planning to beta and finish all my WIPs before/short after I add them to the AO3 (I know ... :|). I actually posted many of my stories during the Test (last month, before the Open Beta), but they were deleted.
Nonetheless, I already knew this was to happen, as I did it to help test the Upload from URL thingy. It almost works like a charm right now -- there still are some bugs, but they are being fixed :D. This means you can simply give the AO3 the URLs of your FFNet, LJ, DW (and other journals/archives) stories, and most of the info will automatically go to the right sites: title, characters, fandom, tags. You'll probably have to manually tweak a couple ones, but if you use the Feedback form to inform about them, they'll very probably get fixed in the future.
So, welcome to the Archive Of Our Own! Enjoy! My username there is ghostwriter, and I have two pseudonyms: 898700 (for all the fics I had previously posted under my Jerico Cacaw pen name), and ghostwriter (for the fics I co-wrote with littlefurryguy under my Ghost Writer pen name).

Seriously. I feel like banging my head at certain comments (random website, it doesn't really matter). How can people be so ... so ... *fumes*. Anyway, I'll welcome any correction/suggestion, especially on grammar and such. I think the green bit is a little hard to read? (ETA: changed). And yes, I know I should not had draw it on a 'squared sheet of paper' (how is it called, in English?) to begin with.
I never met Little Furry Guy (nor Little Furry Gal -- or was it Girl?, they were both hamsters), but when its owner, littlefurryguy asked me for a little drawing, I created this character :). That was, like, five years ago? Panda Boy (actually, Panda Boi) was my nephew's cuyo -- and I don't know the English translation for this word :/. He also had an Egyptian mouse named Kiss, and a pair of hamsters named Custard and Ash.

To the creator and maintainer of one of the most intensive/comprehensive/detailed rec lists of the House MD fandom, and a great fic writer as well: Happy Birthday, topaz_eyes! Here, have a really pretty (and really long) piece of cake :).

Last month, it was National Coming Out Day. Then, somebody at asexuality made a post that started with "I've been reading on posts and found that most people aren't 'out' to their friends and families and are really worried about it or keeping it as a secret." The poster didn't mean it as a You Have To Come Out comment -- ze later says ze's out to 'everybody who cares to ask', which to me means only people who've taken the time to ask and whose relationship with hir somewhat leads to them wondering about hir sexual orientation.
Nonetheless, I couldn't help but react as if somebody were accusing me of hiding who I am (other people has explained this feeling better that I ever could). Which is why I answered, and I'm going to quote myself here, "I'm waiting for the day my heterosexual fellow human beings 'out' themselves as heterosexuals. Then I'll think about 'outing' myself as asexual."
In the same vein, I'd like to share with any heterosexual (and everybody else too, of course!) reading this a little questionnaire from the safezone. It specifically addresses only gays and lesbians in certain questions, but I like to think it can include all of us not of the hetero mode :).
Also, the first question is actually a very sensitive subject for asexuals, as people seem to think SOMETHING had had to happen for us to be 'that way' (AKA, 'scared of sex'). Of course, you know all what SOMETHING stands for. And no. SOMETHING didn't happen to me. And I'm not 'scared of sex', I'm simply not interested.
What do you think caused your heterosexuality?
When and how did you decide that you were a heterosexual?
Is it possible that your heterosexuality is just a phase that you may grow out of?
Is it possible that your heterosexuality stems from a neurotic fear of others of the same sex?
If you have never slept with a person of the same sex, is it possible that all you need is a good gay lover?
Do your parents know that you are straight? Do your friends and roommates know?
Why do you insist on flaunting your heterosexuality? Can't you just be who you are and keep it quiet? ( It continues after the cut )

Avolition: A psychological state characterized by general lack of desire, drive, or motivation to pursue meaningful goals.
I had never been able to explain this, even if I've been aware of this trait of mine since age 10. Good to know somebody else put this in words for me! I'm still unsure it applies 100% to how I feel -- will have to read more in the subject.

My laptop has been getting increasingly slow, so I'd like to re-install everything -- start from a clean slate again, I guess it can be said. Nonetheless, I'm worried about my licensed software, Office specifically. My other software I've reinstalled now and then, and keeping the key at hand was all I needed. But the Office deal I bought is a 3-computer one, and it is actually installed in 3 computers: my PC, my laptop and my sister's netbook. If I were to uninstall it (via re-formatting the laptop), how sure can I be it'll accept the product key when I install it again? Wouldn't it think I've already installed it thrice, and thus make it impossible for me to have a perfectly legal, licensed copy?
I've been looking at the Office site for an answer, but none was found.

It's been two weeks since I last posted anything here. I actually was going to put these drawings on October 23th, but decided to (photo)fix them first. I still want to, but decided there's going to be a before-after thing, so ... this is the Before half! :P
WARNING: this is the tale of last year's events in my life, specifically from October/23/2008 to October/25/2008. I'm planning to do another batch for November/11/2008 to November/22/2009. Those were the days my father was at the hospital, so be careful. This can be triggery for people dealing with the loss of a loved one.

( They are pretty big! )

Finally saw House's previous season's last episode. Wilson was cute. Actually, he was way too cute :DDDD. Especially at the end, when the scenes keep changing between Chase & Cameron, and House & Wilson. It was very awww. But the patient bit at the end was anti-climatic (although the POW-actually-not-the-POW-being-diagnosed's situation was kind of awesome). And the scene where Cuddy and House enter Wilson's office (because OF COURSE, Wilson had to be informed immediately, nobody should ever think differently) was all kinds of woobie-conductive.
Anyway, I actually was doing Work Related Stuff (ended at 3 in the morning -- but the results were good), and happened to half-watch while doing it the next movies/shows: Medical Detectives (twice), Emily Rose's exorcism (twice), House MD, The Fog, Bourne Supremacy, Law and Order (twice), Law and Order SVU, Silent Hill (twice) and American Werewolf in Paris. What the hell, Universal, what the hell. Of course, I didn't pay equal attention to all of them :D.
BTW, those of you doing NaNoWriMo this year should take a look at nano_writers' posts. Actually, those of you into writing, NaNo or not, will probably find at least one interesting advise or resource in said community. And before I forget: I still have Dreamwidth codes, so if any of you want to try DW or is thinking about creating a new account for NaNo purposes (or something), just ask :).

Deja vú!
But that's only because about half of my DW's reading circle intersects with about a tenth of my LJ's F-list.
And, ah. What does it say about me that I didn't found the Most Annoying Web Page annoying at all? Follow that link and share it only on under at your own risk! (I'm not sure I wrote that phrase right. Fellow English speakers: help?) Don't worry, it is safe for work ... unless you curse a lot when annoyed.
(and because I don't want to make you suffer, 'cause I really am a good person, I swear: if you get really annoyed, just keep your finger on ESC for a couple seconds)

2012 isn't the end of the world, Mayan insist
The Mayan civilization, which reached its height from 300 A.D. to 900 A.D., had a talent for astronomy.
Its Long Count calendar begins in 3,114 B.C., marking time in roughly 394-year periods known as Baktuns. Thirteen was a significant, sacred number for the Mayas, and the 13th Baktun ends around Dec. 21, 2012.
"It's a special anniversary of creation," said David Stuart, a specialist in Mayan epigraphy at the University of Texas at Austin. "The Maya never said the world is going to end, they never said anything bad would happen necessarily, they're just recording this future anniversary on Monument Six."
Bernal suggests that apocalypse is "a very Western, Christian" concept projected onto the Maya, perhaps because Western myths are "exhausted." [Thanks, nightdog_barks, for posting this link]Seriously, Apoca-crazies: stop scaring stupid unsuspecting people with this 'world will end in 2012, Mayas say so' stories. They never said anything of the sort. Many Baktuns had come and go, and the world is still here. It's a little like predicting when a future eclipse is going to occur -- surprising for those who don't know how it's done, but with nothing supernatural behind it. If all you know about this thing comes from the internets, the tabloids and the TV alarmist shows, then Trust Me (and give me all your monies): I hold the truth (not), one fourth of my blood is Mayan*, I've lived all my life surrounded by Mayan culture, visiting Mayan archeological sites many times a year, and knowing about the existence of such things as Baktuns and other astronomical and mathematical concepts discovered by Ancient Mayans. *waves her hands mysteriously* *huffs in annoyance* * An eighth is Spaniard and the rest is a mix of the next indigenous cultures (I know close to nothing about these, sadly): Zapoteca, Mixteca, Mazateca, Mixe, Chontal, Tzetzal and Nahuatl. This entry is also posted at DW.

I celebrated my birthday by playing basketball and helping my Department win today's game :D.
Anybody who knows of my strangled relationship with all sports except for chess (and including video games) knows why this makes me ridiculously cheerful :B.

There's only one Mexican soap opera I liked, ever: Corazón Salvaje. And I have to say that the main reason was the intro song, by Manuel Mijares :P. I don't really care about other songs by the same artist, so it wasn't any kind of crush on the man, but the feeling he was able to put in the lyrics still gets to me. So here, the song's video, thanks to Youtube:
There were a few other bits I liked about the soap opera too, actually: the clothes and sets were very realistic, the outdoors beautifully chosen, and the actors were quite good too. The eye candy wasn't all that bad, either ;). Sadly, 2009's new version of the story doesn't seem as promising ... not that I plan to watch it anyway.

The IgNoble 2009 winners, guys! The IgNoble winners! :D *runs to read*
In other, unrelated news: How to Avoid Kicking Puppies and Other Valuable Lessons in Leadership by sparky77 is an amazing, amusing, look at James Kirk's attempts at being an authoritative figure. Star Trek, Gen, one-shot piece with multiple POV's.
[Also, LJ f-list: is my DW footer thing working right?] ETA: Well ... after three attempts and two failures, I simplified it to the extreme. An apology for the raw code showing up. I must investigate further on this.

ETA2: I'm going to re-crosspost this, as it didn't go to LJ yesterday.
I'm going to act like a total idiot and ask: why does LiveJournal hate me?*
Anyway. This is a very well done prank. Some guys walled 11 offices at their work one night, and people went all WTF the next day :P.

* Or maybe I should ask: is something wrong with LJ? I haven't been able to access for like half an hour! ETA: Finally! I'm being redirected to the heavily armed monkeys message, but that's better that not knowing if the problem was in my side

Words Other Than 'Said'
I'm gonna keep this link here, as I know it'll be quite useful next time I keep using 'said' and 'asked' when writing fic :D.
In other, unrelated, news: Telling Stories by omorka is a really, really sweet Card Captor Sakura fic. Gen, from a secondary character's POV, it shows the anime's events from an outsider's eyes. I also recomend the other two CCS fics by the same author, as well as the many Real Ghostbusters stories in her fic community :).
